Wednesday 6/15/2021 9AM

Here’s an update on Shasta County’s Coronavirus situation, as public health passed on some good news and some bad news. First, the bad news. A woman in her 70s has become Shasta County’s 233rd death by Covid. Another 31 cases were reported from Sunday and Monday for a total of 12,630 confirmed cases. There were also 401 negative tests. An estimated 126 people have the virus right now; 19 are hospitalized and 5 are in intensive care.

The good news is that the county has emerged beyond the Blueprint for a Safer Economy in the orange tier, with an adjusted case rate of 5.14 daily cases per 100,000 residents.

Shasta County is still way behind the state average for vaccinations. Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is very easy on a walk-in basis with no wait, or by appointment at myturn.ca.gov . Many options can be found at shastaready.org.
