An Anderson probationer has been arrested for elder abuse. The Problem Oriented Police Unit made a visit Friday to the Second Street home of 57-year-old Gary Wayne Mitts, who’s on probation for possession of heroin for sale. Apparently no drugs were found in the search but officers reported finding a lot of paraphernalia and a scale. Mitts is the caregiver for his elderly mother, who also lives there. Mitts was arrested for elder abuse and maintaining a place for drug sales and use. A 41-year-old woman who was there was arrested for willingly being somewhere that drugs are being used or sold.
