Widespread rumors that the newly elected majority on the Gateway School District Board of Trustees intends to hire Bryan Caples seem to be confirmed by a behind-the-scenes communication that’s just come to light. The board fired their Superintendent in December and Board President Cherrill Clifford apparently signed a contract with Caples. He ran unsuccessfully last year for Shasta County Superintendent of Schools, but had his teaching credentials and administrative services credentials suspended by the state earlier this month. In a letter to the trustees, Assistant Superintendent Steve Henson says the contract is likely invalid and illegal and could expose the district to very costly litigation resulting in Million of Dollars in legal fees.
