10:30AM Monday: COVID-19 Cases Surge For 3rd Weekend In A Row

Shasta County had 120 additional cases of Coronavirus over the weekend for a total of 1,473. There have been 24 Shasta County deaths from the virus. The new cases range in age from under 13 to older than 89. There are currently 157 active cases with 4 of them hospitalized. 323 people are quarantined due to possible exposure.

There have been 51,355 negative tests in Shasta County. Testing continues to increase with nearly 800 tests conducted on Thursday. There are several free options to get tested, which can be found by going to shastaready.org and clicking on “get tested”.

3 more Butte County residents have died of Covid, bringing their total to 48, among 2,962 cases. Tehama County has had 693 cases and now 8 deaths. 19 cases have been confirmed in Trinity County. Glenn County has had 623 cases and 3 deaths. Lassen County has had 113 cases in the community, in addition to 637 in the prison population. Lassen County reported it’s 1st COVID-19 death over the weekend. There have been 179 in Siskiyou County with one death and 528 in Humboldt County with 8 deaths. Modoc County has now reported 28 cases.

The state has moved Shasta County into the more restrictive “red” category range, where the county will remain for two weeks. Public health says the numbers are showing the county will then be placed in the most restrictive “purple” tier, where it must remain for at least three weeks.
