Crews Reach 95% Containment On Zogg Fire

Cal-Fire and a number of assisting agencies are moving in on completing suppression work on the Zogg Fire. The fire that started September 27th remains at 56,338 acres, and it’s now 95% contained. 204 structures were destroyed and 27 damaged. Some smoldering material still remains on the interior of the fire zone. The Zogg claimed 4 civilian fatalities and an inmate firefighter injury. The only full closure still in effect is Zogg Mine Road.Officials are warning returning residents to watch for falling branches. Fire damaged trees may be unstable and have loose limbs. There are also burned out stumps and holes to be wary of. A lot of wildlife has been displaced and residents are warned to try and avoid contact with any wild animals that may be looking for forage or shelter. Air quality is extremely poor in some areas of the fire zone.
