The City of Redding has a new fire chief following the retirement of Cullen Kreider. Jerrod Vanlandingham comes from Longmont, Colorado where he served as fire chief for the last 8 years. City Manager Barry Tippin says he was one of six interviewed for the position, and will begin sometime next month at a salary of $12,250 per month.
Also at Tuesday nights meeting, the city council recognized the recently passed Rod Lindsay for the many years of service given to neighboring City of Shasta Lake. Lindsay was a former council member and mayor. He also was active in many other organizations including local indians for education, and was a familiar face at just about any local parade or event. Lindsay died August 27th at the age of 76.
