Anderson High School and North Valley Continuation School have begun distance learning after a student at each school tested positive for COVID-19. Students may return to classrooms when given the all clear by public health.
Another Shasta County resident has died from COVID-19, making a total of 12. He was a man in his 60’s. Only 3 new cases were on Thursday’s report: a teenage girl, a man in his 40’s and a man in his 50’s. Shasta County has had 557 cases, with 28 currently active. 2 people are in the hospital and one of them is in intensive care.
Butte County reported 71 additional cases Wednesday to total 1,815, they’ve had 21 fatalities. Trinity County has had 11 cases. Tehama County is on the state watch list with 400 cases and one death. Glenn County is no longer on the state’s watch list with their 435 cases and 3 deaths. Lassen County has had 82 cases in the community, in addition to 634 in the prison population. There have been 125 in Siskiyou County and 361 in Humboldt County with 4 deaths. Modoc County has had 5 cases and all have recovered.
Weed Police and the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a homicide. A call was made early Thursday morning reporting a shooting on the north side of Highway A-12 in a subdivision off Perla Drive. Detectives arrived and found a dead man inside a unspecified structure. A witness told them that the shooter had fled, but was unable to provide the identity of the suspect or suspects. No details about the murder have been released.
