Federal firefighters are slowly gaining more containment on the Red Salmon Complex, burning in the Trinity Alps Wilderness on both the Six Rivers and Shasta-Trinity National Forests. The two fires have burned a combined 4,284 acres, now with 7% containment. Forest Service crews are using minimum impact suppression tactics to protect natural and cultural resources, and strengthening indirect provisional lines using trail systems, roads, ridgelines and control lines from previous fires.
The Stump Fire in Eastern Tehama County has not grown, still at 684 acres and now with 80% containment. It started from lightning last Saturday afternoon near the cross of Highway 36 and Highway 172 in the Lassen National Forest near Childs Meadows. No structures are threatened. The fire continues to slowly creep and smolder with single tree flare-ups and some large dead and downed material will continue to burn.
