Small Business Owners Urged To Apply For Federal Grants

Eligibility has been expanded for a grant program to help some of Shasta County’s smallest small businesses. In a partnership between the Redding Chamber of Commerce and the cities of Redding, Anderson and Shasta Lake, about 140 eligible micro-enterprise businesses will be given $5,000 grants. To qualify, the recipients must be brick-and-mortar for-profit operations with five or fewer employees that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. There had been a requirement that a business can’t have received any P.P.P. or SBA disaster funding. That restriction has been adjusted so that businesses that received less than $5,000 from the government are eligible for a supplemental grant up to that sum from the Chamber of Commerce. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first served basis and grants will be awarded until the $750,000 in HUD Block Grant money is depleted. Details on applying can be found at reddingchamber.com.
