County Revokes Waterworks Parks’ Pool Permit

Waterworks Park remains open, in defiance of orders from the county, which has revoked one of Waterworks’ key permits.Shasta County Public Health, which has not taken action to enforce state orders for Coronavirus containment, has taken action against the popular North Redding waterslide attraction, which had been on the list of mandatory closures since the governor’s first order in March. The park opened a week late, on June 5th, despite stern county orders to remain closed. Authorities say “each day the park is open, large numbers of unrelated people, some from outside the area, gather in the park without social distancing or face coverings.” After a warning letter from county officials earlier this month, Waterworks announced it would stay open through August 2nd. Last Wednesday the county declared the park an immediate threat to public health and safety, and said it would revoke its public pool permit, effective Monday. Waterworks has given no indication that they’ll relent.
