Tree Removal Will Force Closures At Whiskeytown

Some areas of Whiskeytown National Recreation Area will be closed as hazard trees are removed. Since the devastation of the Carr Fire, more than 11,000 hazard trees have been removed from the park, but the job is not done yet. Oak Bottom Beach and Picnic Point are closed through next Monday. On Thursday the Brandy Creek access road will be subject to controlled traffic the first half of the day, with vehicles allowed through every 10 minutes. The Whiskey Creek Boat Launch and day use picnic area will be closed next Monday through Thursday. More partially burned trees are at risk of falling and injuring somebody, so visitors are urged to keep an eye out for them.
