Bears Force 60 Day Closure Of Backcountry Camping At Lassen Park

A portion of Lassen Volcanic National Park has been closed to the public temporarily because bears have gotten a little too comfortable with people. The Twin and Rainbow Lakes area has been closed to backcountry camping. Park Service Officials say bears getting food from campers, whether stolen or given, has caused them to associate humans and their equipment with food. The area is closed for 60 days in hopes that the bears will get back to foraging for food in the wild, and forget about the easy pickings from people.
