Wednesday 10AM: 6 New Cases In Shasta County Include Young Girl

Coronavirus cases are on an alarming surge across Northern California. On Tuesday another 6 cases were reported in Shasta County for a total of 118. The latest are a girl under age 13, a man in his 40’s, three women in their 50’s and a woman in her 70’s. Three have symptoms. 4 people have died. There are 9 people hospitalized in Shasta County, 2 of them in I.C.U. 169 people are quarantined due to possible exposure. 12,357 tests have been reported negative in Shasta County. Those numbers don’t include people who have been tested for antibodies, as Vitalant has been doing with all blood donors.

Butte County has reported 175 cases. Tehama County has had 78. Glenn County has surged to 112, placing it on the state’s watch list. Lassen County has reported 14 cases in the community, in addition to 219 in the prison population. Siskiyou County has had 29. There have been 133 in Humboldt County. Trinity County is still reporting 2 cases, and there are still no reported cases in Modoc County.

Anyone can get tested for free, whether showing symptoms or not, at a covid testing station at Shasta College or Red Bluff Community Center or Corning High School. If insurance doesn’t cover the cost, the state will. Appointments must be made at lhi.care/covidtesting. Mobile testing is available in Burney and Fall River, with appointments at 225-5591.
