The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department continues its campaign against cannabis farming on private property. Nearly all the raids have been on well organized indoor operations in very remote areas of the county. Last Tuesday the team brought 4 search warrants to the Mount Shasta Vista Area 27 miles southeast of Yreka. Deputies seized 7,717 plants that were growing in greenhouses, along with 52 pounds of processed marijuana bud and one gun. Six adults and three children were detained and two were arrested. In addition to criminal charges, Siskiyou County has an ordinance that allows for fines of $5,000 per day for code violations.
