The trucker found dead on Interstate Five in Anderson early Monday morning has been identified by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office as 55-year-old Robert Edward Sturghill of Fresno. At around 4AM Monday Sturghill was southbound in a tractor-trailer near Deschutes Road when his truck damaged about 500 feet of guardrail. It’s not known why he veered into the guardrail, and it’s possible he may have been experiencing a medical issue. He stopped, got out of his cab and fell to the roadway before another big rig came along and ran over him. A post mortem exam is scheduled in hopes of determining if Sturghill died before being hit by the other truck.
