No More Free Entrance To Whiskeytown Recreation Area

Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is not free anymore. Starting Friday the Park Service will again be collecting entrance fees. The charge had been waived when most facilities were unstaffed due to the pandemic. Many trails remained open, but without restrooms or garbage collection. Those are back in place and just in time for Memorial Day weekend the park is also opening Brandy Creek Beach and Marina, Oak Bottom Beach, and Whiskey Creek. Also open are the facilities at each of those locations, including boat launches, restrooms, stores, boat and kayak rentals. The Park Service asks that people maintain social distancing and watch their kids because there will be no lifeguards on duty. Entrance passes can only be purchased online at recreation.gov.
