Redding is about to get 6 new Pickleball courts and some new modular buildings at the Enterprise Park. 6 new courts will be built at a cost of about $100,000. The money will be appropriated from park-in-lieu money which is paid by developers whenever a new project is built within the city. Another $200,000 will be used from the same fund to build housing for a park host. Community Services Director Kim Niemer says having someone at the park 24 hours a day will actually save the city about $5000 a year in security costs by not having to pay for a private company to lock up and patrol the park at night. The city council also appropriated $150,000 for a modular building which will provide more program space at Caldwell Park.
