Fire destroyed an East Redding house Saturday. Located near the corner of Alrose and Lofty Oaks, the house predates the tract houses of the subdivision. Redding Firefighters arrived just before 2 O’clock to find heavy fire as thick smoke billowed from the house, which is approximately 2500 square feet in addition to a thousand square foot basement. The $300,000 house is likely a total loss, according to fire inspector Mike Ham. The cause remains under investigation. The residents were not there, and it’s not known when they returned to discover what had befallen their home.
