A threat of school violence caused a lock down of schools in Weaverville Tuesday. The Trinity County Sheriff’s office became aware of a statement that seemed to indicate that someone posed a threat to harm students at a school. Deputies went to the schools and placed them in lock-down as a precaution. They found the person responsible, who had made a comment about school violence, but had not made a specific threat. The suspect had done nothing that warranted an arrest. Deputies confirmed that the individual had no firearms. They remained at the schools until the students had left for the day.
