Following the 4th recent attack by residents of area group homes run by Victor Treatment Centers, the company has announced that they’ll close their Redding area facilities next month. Monday evening a woman who lives on Paso Robles Avenue just north of Redding reported that her husband, Fred Clough, was being assaulted by two juveniles from a Victor Group Home a few houses away. Arriving deputies took the juveniles into custody. Clough told deputies he found a juvenile in his yard while he was trimming trees and when he asked the juvenile to leave, he was punched on the forehead. A staff member from the group home arrived and tried to restrain the juvenile. Meanwhile, a second juvenile from the group home arrived and began yelling obscenities at Clough. The employee tried to convince the two to return to the group home, but they refused. One of them picked up a 7 Foot long, 3 Inch diameter tree limb and started hitting Clough and swinging it at the staff member. The second juvenile picked up pieces of tree limbs and threw them at Clough, hitting him several times. The two juveniles were booked into the Shasta County Juvenile Hall for assault with a deadly weapon. The closure of the local Victor facilities will be complete by January 20th, and will affect about 60 children and 90 employees.
