A man fled on foot from a traffic stop in Happy Valley, leaving his passenger to take the heat. At 7:24PM last Thursday evening a Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled over a Cadillac Escalade on Happy Valley Road at Olinda Road. After the Cadillac stopped, the driver got out and ran away, and the deputy was alone and couldn’t give chase. 39-year-old Stephanie Walton was in the passenger seat. As she was being detained she told deputies there was a gun was in the Cadillac. A loaded sawed-off shotgun was found on the rear passenger floor. A search for the driver involved a number of deputies with a K9, as well as Anderson Police and a CHP helicopter but they were unsuccessful. Walton refused to identify him and she said the vehicle was hers so she faces charges for the shotgun.
