A fire in Palo Cedro that prompted a number of evacuations was stopped at 30 acres Sunday. No structures were damaged by the Gilbert Fire. At it’s peak, evacuations were ordered for the area north of Highway 44 between Logan Road and Deschutes Road. Old 44 Drive was closed for an extended period of time. Evacuation orders were all lifted by nightfall. With high temperatures and single digit humidity, the dry material ignited readily. As of Monday morning the fire is 60% contained.
