The man killed Saturday afternoon in Anderson has been identified as 27-year-old Nikolai Landry of Anderson. Three officers from the Anderson Police Department responded to a report of a man acting suspiciously. They observed a man in the backyard of a house on Lodgepole Avenue, sitting at a picnic table. Landry reportedly did not respond to officer’s commands and pointed a weapon at one of them. At that time another officer fired one shot from a rifle. Landry died at the scene. The Redding Police Department is investigating the incident and have reported that the weapon, which looks like a Baretta, was actually a Spring-Air BB Pistol, which did not have a colored tip. The officer who fired his weapon has been placed on paid administrative leave.
