Redding Police have arrested a man they say was involved in a shooting outside of the Redding Library on Monday. David Anthony Esudero was arrested at a home on Wonderland Boulevard north of Redding after he was seen in surveillance video walking through the library as if he was looking for someone. A confrontation between Esudero and the victim Alex Santivanezcortez, both apparent gang members, took place Monday afternoon inside of the library and quickly escalated to a shooting, according to police. Police found Santivanezcortez in a grassy area outside of the library with a gunshot wound to his neck. He was taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment, where he apparently gave police a statement about what happened. He said as he was leaving the library, Esudero confronted him and was reaching for his waistband. He eventually left, but returned later and was confronted outside of the library where Esudero shot him. After the incident Escudero left the area in a blue Dodge pickup which was found in a driveway of the home where he was taken into custody without incident.
