More than a dozen arrests were made in Anderson during a crackdown on illegal encampments. Early Sunday morning, the Anderson Police Department teamed up with Anderson Fire, code enforcement officers, and members of the Shasta County Superior Court and conducted a series enforcement operations. The teams utilized ATV’s to access several of the camps in more remote locations of the. Several camps were identified with some being on public land and some being on private property. A total of 14 people were arrested during the operation for various violations, including illegal camping, trespassing, possession of methamphetamine, possession of the drug paraphernalia, and outstanding warrants for failures to appear. APD has worked with property owners in addressing this issue and many have provided APD with a “consent to enforce” letter, authorizing officers to enter the property and take enforcement action on trespassers. Every person contacted during this operation was provided with information about resources that are available to them in this county. This includes food, shelter, clothing, and transportation resources to assist them. Shasta Support Services conducted a clean up of the camps.
