Parents are being warned about the dangers of the north state’s snowmelt-swollen rivers after a young child drowned in Siskiyou County over the weekend. Saturday night a 7-year-old child slipped into the Applegate River, located just south of the Oregon state line. First responders went to great lengths in their efforts to revive the child, but they were unsuccessful and the child was pronounced deceased at a hospital in Medford.
