A Siskiyou County man who went looking for his lost dog and then got lost himself for two days has been found safe. On Monday 35-year-old John Leland Alameda II of Happy Camp had enlisted the help of a friend to search for his dog in a remote area in the Titus Creek Drainage. After about 14 hours of searching, the men became separated in the very rugged terrain. Alameda’s friend reported him missing at around 5 O’clock Monday afternoon, and then he got a text from him on his cell phone at 1AM Tuesday, but that was the last he heard from him. Tuesday morning a “be on the lookout” bulletin was distributed. The Siskiyou County Search and Rescue Team was mobilized and they began combing the Titus Ridge and Titus Creek area, but they found no sign of Alameda. The search resumed Wednesday morning until 11:20AM, when he showed up at the Ferry Point Campground. First responders requested medical aid, but Alameda refused treatment and was given a ride to a friend’s house in the Happy Camp area. The dog is still missing.
