Shasta County Unemployment Rate At 4.9% In April

Shasta County’s unemployment rate showed a considerable improvement last month. The 4.9% jobless rate for April compares to a 6.2% for March. While the number of jobs remained the same from March to April, the number of people in the labor force dropped by 900. The unemployment rate also shows a slight improvement over the 5.1% in April of last year, but that’s also due to a change in the labor force. Tehama County had a 5.9% rate last month. It was 6.1% in Trinity County and 7.3% in Siskiyou County. The unadjusted statewide rate was 3.9%, and it was 3.3% for the nation.
