There’s an opportunity Monday evening for the public to get a look at, and comment on, Redding Rancheria’s plans for a new casino in Churn Creek Bottom. The new Win-River Casino would be located on 232 acres in an area known as the Strawberry Fields between Interstate 5 and the Sacramento River just south of South Bonnyview Road. In addition to a casino that would be twice the size of the current win-river, there also would be a 250 room hotel, a parking structure, and an event center that the city says would compete with the civic auditorium. The lead government agency making decisions on the project is the Bureau of Indian Affairs. They’ll sponsor a public hearing this evening beginning at 5:30PM at the Veterans Hall on Yuba Street next to the Downtown Post Office.
