Officers Make Drug Arrests At Redding Motel

Redding Police have arrested 3 people at a Bechelli Lane motel. Friday morning, an officer was patrolling the area near the Bridgeway Inn when he observed several people coming and going from a room. A red Toyota Camry was parked outside the room, with two women in it. They began to drive away, but quickly pulled back into the parking lot when they saw officers. Another officer stopped the car and contacted the driver, 23-year-old Freedom Hammon of Redding, and passenger, 21-year-old Kaitlyn O’Grady of Redding. The license plate was determined to be stolen. Officers contacted 26-year-old Gerald Strong of Redding outside the room. He had several warrants and was arrested without incident. Officers then contacted 20-year-old Zachary Ross of Virginia. He was displaying symptoms of being under the influence of Methamphetamine, and officers noticed drug paraphernalia in the room. Ross consented to a search. Officers found two handguns and Methamphetamine in the room, along with several items of drug paraphernalia. Ross was booked into Shasta County Jail for possession of Meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm while in possession of illegal drugs. Strong was arrested for the outstanding warrants. Hammon was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a stolen property. O’Grady was released without charges.
