Man Arrested After Stealing Police Chief’s Morning Paper

A brazen thief picked the wrong place to steal a newspaper. On Thursday morning at about 7:50AM Anderson Police Department Records Technicians were arriving to work just in time to spot 22-year-old Michael Lee McBride of Fresno, steal Chief Michael Johnson’s newspaper that had been delivered to the lobby earlier. The record technicians alerted officers and a search was conducted. Chief Johnson responded to the scene and was the first to locate McBride. He recovered his stolen property while providing McBride words of guidance. McBride had other problems to deal with, as he was reportedly found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. McBride was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail.
