Coroner ID’s Body Found In Creek As Redding Man

After two months, the identity of a man who’s body was found in a creek has finally been determined. The coroner’s office has identified the dead man as 41-year-old Derwin Dick Hall of Redding. On March 2nd, the body was found in Burney Creek. Sheriff’s office personnel was unable to do a recover at first due to the position of the body and the high water flow. The body was recovered the following morning by deputies along with search and rescue team members and Burney Fire. The initial information said that he appeared to be Native American, apparently had pins surgically implanted in both hips and tattoos. An autopsy has been performed on Hall, but the cause of death hasn’t been released. The incident is still under investigation by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office.
