A parolee from Orland who had been sought by Corning Police following a high-speed chase in January has been found, but not in the way they had wanted to find him. Early the morning of January 14th, Corning Police tried to pull over a Nissan sedan on Highway 99W near South Avenue, but the driver accelerated, leading a three mile chase through town. While on 5th Street, the driver jumped from the moving car and ran away. A search of the area was done with no success, but officers recognized the driver as 26-year-old Brandon Dawson. The passenger, 29-year-old Alexander Lemire, was arrested without a fight and charged for the several pounds of marijuana that was in the car. Dawson had been wanted ever since, that is until the discovery of a body near Walker Ridge in Colusa County in Mid-April. The remains have been identified as Dawson. It’s believed that he was murdered in a dispute over drugs. Dawson had disappeared from his Orland home under suspicious circumstances on March 8th.
