The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department has determined the cause of death of a man whose body was found last week. Last Wednesday at about 11:45AM, a deputy responded to a call of possible human remains located near Independence Creek Road, a Forest Service road in the Happy Camp area, in a remote area of the county, about 5.2 miles from State Route 96. An autopsy was performed and it was determined that the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His vehicle was previously found in the area, but a search failed to locate the owner at that time. A firearm and personal belongings were located in the vicinity of the body. He was reported missing from the Marysville area in January. Anyone with information about this case is being asked to call 841-2900.
