Chase Suspect Apprehended After Foot Pursuit In Anderson

A Redding man was captured after reportedly leading Anderson Police on a pursuit, and then ramming the pursuing patrol car. At around 1:30AM Saturday morning an APD Officer was on Highway 273 near Ox Yoke Road when he saw a Honda CRV that looked like one reported stolen 6 hours earlier. The officer got behind the Honda and confirmed it was the stolen vehicle, so he tried to pull it over, but the driver didn’t stop. When the chase led down a dead-end road, the driver spun around and ran the Honda head-on into the police Ford Explorer. Eventually the Honda reached Briarwood and Ravenwood Drive and the driver jumped out and ran into the River Garden Apartment Complex. After a foot chase, officers captured 29-year-old Christopher Michael Scott. A passenger in the Honda said she had told Scott to stop and let her out but he refused, so he’s been charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment, as well as felony evading, vehicle theft and assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer. The pursuing officer was Tyler Spurgeon, and this was the 4th stolen vehicle he recovered within 48 hours.
