Water releases from Keswick Dam are being reduced substantially in the next several days. A week ago releases were increased to 40,000 cubic feet per second. On Thursday, the Bureau of Reclamation began backing off on the amount of water coming down the Sacramento River. By Sunday night, about 22,000 CFS was coming out of the dam. By this Friday, that number will be about 10,000 CFS. Meanwhile, the water level at Shasta Dam is going down, due to a decrease in the amount of water flowing into the lake. Recently, more than twice as much water was flowing into the lake than was being released.
