Woman Sentenced To Life In Prison After Young Child’s Death

A Red Bluff woman has been sentenced for the death of a 2-year-old boy who was in her care, according to the Corning Observer. On July 18th Red Bluff Police were called to Saint Elizabeth Hospital after the little boy had been brought in and was not breathing. He was deceased by the time officers arrived at the hospital. The story told by 25-year-old Rachel Elise Henderson was that the toddler had fallen down a flight of stairs at a location on Delphinium Court. Investigators interviewed Henderson and eventually arrested her for homicide and felony child abuse. The boy was Henderson’s stepson. She struck the child and then shoved him down the flight of stairs. The boy’s father, Gregory Von Magnus, was not home when the incident happened. When he arrived he called 9-1-1 because Henderson had apparently done nothing to help the boy. She was on probation at the time for battery and cruelty to her own children in 2015. Henderson was convicted of second degree murder and assault on a child causing death. On Monday she was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
