A man from Orland is accused of trying to kill a game warden with his car. At 9:15AM Monday morning, a State Fish and Wildlife Warden contacted 35-year-old Phien Khamsavang in the area of Woodson Bridge and Gardiner Ferry Road in Corning. While checking on whether Khamsavang had a valid fishing license, the Warden discovered that he had multiple misdemeanor warrants out of Glenn County. When the Warden attempted to make an arrest, Khamsavang reportedly attacked him, and then ran toward his car. The Warden fired his taser at him but it was ineffective and Khamsavang was able to get into his car, which he then reportedly drove directly at the Warden. The Warden got into his truck just as the car struck the side of it, pinning his arm between the vehicles. Khamsavang then reportedly tried to get away in his car but it became disabled. He was captured on foot a short distance away by other Game Wardens and CHP Officers. He was booked into Tehama County Jail for attempted murder. The Warden suffered minor injuries.
