A candidate for the State Assembly is accused of fraud and grand theft, according to the Record Searchlight. Caleen Sisk is the Chief of the Winnemum Wintu Tribe and she’s the Democratic candidate for the First District Assembly Seat held by Brian Dahle. She apparently faces charges for false claims on her in-home support services time card. She gets paid by the state to provide care for an elderly woman but the D.A.’s Office says she was out of the state or out of the country during some of the times she claimed on her time card. She apparently had friends and family work in her place during her absence, which is a violation of the rules. Sisk is scheduled to enter a plea on August 7th.
