Property Owner Issued Retroactive Permit To Grow Cannabis

Some light has been shed on a search warrant served last week by Trinity County Sheriff’s Deputies at the Trinity County Planning Department, according to the Trinity Journal. The search was done on June 4th, and the sheriff’s office issued a press release saying they had received information that top county government officials were attempting to alter evidence in a criminal investigation. Apparently the case involves a sheriff’s department raid of a marijuana growing operation outside of Hayfork. The property owner was outraged and vented his concerns at a May 24th planning commission meeting. After that the planning department apparently issued the grower a retroactive cannabis cultivation permit. The sheriff’s office interpreted that as interference in their criminal investigation. County Counsel Margaret Long and Chief Administrative Officer Richard Kuhns responded to the Trinity Journal that the sheriff’s office simply doesn’t understand the process of cannabis licensing.
