Breaking into a police officer’s house is a bold move, but a Redding burglar did something especially heinous while he was there. Wednesday night a Redding Police Officer and his family arrived at their home on Trumpet Drive to discover that someone had broken into the house. Numerous guns were taken, even though they had been secured. The worst part, though, is that the burglar apparently poisoned the family dog. It’s not just any dog. It’s a retired police K9 living out his final years as the household family pet. He was acting very ill and was taken to a veterinary hospital, where he’s still being treated. It’s believed the break-in happened between 6AM and 1PM Wednesday. A $5,000 reward is available for anonymous tips at 243-2319 or scsecretwitness.com.
