State Transportation Grant Fill Improve Roadways Across Northstate

Some Northstate roads will get smoother sooner than expected. Funding has been expedited to begin certain projects around the state with money from a state senate transportation bill passed in April. Statewide the “Fix-it-First” Projects include 66 bridges, 1200 lane miles of pavement and 300 culverts. Here in District 2 several of the jobs are on Interstate Five. A $26.4 Million pavement preservation project through the City of Anderson will improve 6.5 miles of asphalt, update signage and lighting and add other elements. A similar project in Siskiyou County will cover 25.5 miles of I-5 Dunsmuir to the Black Butte Overhead at a cost of $136 Million. Another $39 Million will revamp and improve clearance for trucks on I-5 at four overpasses in the Yreka area, as well as the Highway 273 overcrossing in North Redding. Another $10 Million Dollars will be spent on improvements to four bridges in Trinity County.
