Grant Aims To Help High School Kids Head To College

Simpson University has received a large federal grant to boost college attendance for some of the least likely college-bound students. The “Upward Bound” program is intended to open up higher education for low income high schoolers whose parents did not go to college.  A grant of 5.15 Million Dollars will be used to help 60 students per year for five years at four high schools. The designated schools are Anderson, West Valley, Etna and Yreka. An Upward Bound grant was also given to Shasta College. More information on the program is at simpsonu.edu.
