As an opioid drug addiction epidemic sweeps the nation, Shasta County residents are turning in record numbers of unwanted prescription medications for disposal. There are permanent disposal kiosks at the Redding and Anderson Police Stations and the Shasta Lake and Burney Sheriff’s Substations. At the Redding kiosk alone, there was more than 2000 pounds of drugs turned in last year.
