A man was shot and killed by Redding Police Officers Wednesday morning. Just after 11:30AM officers were called to the White Oak Apartments on Reservoir Lane. A man was armed with a pistol and a long gun and refusing to leave an apartment where he wasn’t welcome. When officers arrived he was in front of the apartment holding the long gun. After repeatedly ordering the man to drop the gun, four officers opened fire. The gunman was declared dead at the scene. The man’s name has not been released. He’s believed to be about 50-years-old. An acquaintance of the dead man at the scene told us he had been making increasingly paranoid statements recently about people being after him. The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave and the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation.
