Strawberry Product May Have Contained Hepatitis-A

Hepatitis-A vaccinations are recommended for Bella Vista Elementary School students and customers of Vittles Restaurant in Anderson. Shasta County Public Health says a frozen strawberry product has been recalled due to a possible Hepatitis-A contamination. Bella Vista Elementary used some of the product in smoothies for breakfast on Tuesday of last week, October 25th. Vittles Restaurant on North Street in Anderson may have used some of the product in strawberry syrup or topping between October 20th and 28th. Public health officials say anyone who may have consumed some of the strawberry product needs to find out if they’ve had a Hep-A immunization. If not, they need to get the shot within 2 weeks of the exposure. For those who think they’ve been exposed, it’s offered for free through November 10th at the public health clinic on Breslauer Way. Their phone number is 225-5591.
